SkinPen was medically created to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars on the face/body.

SkinPen performs a micro-needling skin treatment, also known as collagen induction therapy, which is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment procedure that helps minimise the signs of aging, improves the appearance of Acne Scars and rejuvenates the skin.

The SkinPen micro-needling device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulates the body’s natural wound healing response. These micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines (growth factors) that lead to remodelling new collagen and elastin fibers.

How does SkinPen work?

SkinPen works by creating a series of thousands of microscopic channels into the epidermis/dermis to stimulate the skin’s natural production of new collagen and elastin, which results in healthier and fresher looking skin.

SkinPen needles cycle at 100+ stamps/second, potentially creating up to 1600+ microchannels per second while the skin pen moves.

​

Post treatment the skin will go through 3 phases

1)      Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers the immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.

  

2)      Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix.

  

3)      Remodeling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.   

 

 

How is micro-needling SkinPen Treatments Performed?

First of all, we evaluate your skin and talk about what results you would like to achieve, this also allows us to tailor plan your treatment.

Once we have answered all your question’s and you understand the procedure we go ahead with the treatment.

​

After a thorough cleanse and prep, we start the treatment using our SkinPen device, we tailor the treatment on selected depths in different areas, to help you reach your desired goal.

​

Once we finish the SkinPen treatment, we will apply a calming peptide mask and a healing LED Light Treatment.

​

You will also receive a take home repair product to help the skin calm and repair quickly.

Depending on the area, treatments can take typically one hour.

What area of skin can be treated?  

SkinPen’s variable needle depth’s allow maximum versatility, making it safe and effective to use on many part’s of the body, including face, neck, and décolletage, SkinPen can also be used on certain scars on the body and the back of hand’s.

What can I expect during the treatment?

After cleansing and preparing your skin, we will attach a single use sterile needle cartridge to the SkinPen, we will then move the devise across your skin, creating tiny microchannels. Some clients may experience a small amount of discomfort during the treatment, that many tolerate very well due to the short treatment times, in some cases a small amount of pinpoint bleeding is visible.

After the micro-needling treatment, we will help reduce the inflammation with the use of a calming mask and healing LED Light therapy.

​

The following are expected following a SkinPen procedure with experiences varying between clients:

• Low grade redness and swelling up to 4 days post treatment.

• Slight discomfort subsiding within 24 hours

• Short term dryness, tightness, itching and burning (Sunburn feeling)

• Skin peeling

• Short term darkening of skin pigmentation followed by lightening.

 

 

Who can have this treatment?

Most clients are suitable for this skin treatment, but certain health/ Skin conditions and Medications can prevent certain clients from having this treatment. We ask you to let us know of any of these before booking to have a treatment as failing to disclose vital information may lead to the development of undesirable post procedural complications.

When will I see results?

The natural repair process of your own skin continues to progress through the course of several weeks.

 

Damage that has occurred over an extensive period of time won’t disappear immediately. You may not see the final full result for up to six months following your final session, as six months is the time frame when collagen stops renewing and finished repairing after a injury.

​

As with any treatment dependent on your own body’s natural ability to repair itself, results can vary from person to person.

 

 

How many treatments are recommended?

The number of procedures required will be based upon your individual goals and the overall health of your skin. Most patients have between 3-6 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart following a well planed home care routine for best results.

For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 4-6 week intervals.
